Personal: photographing my everyday

Monday, December 12th, 2011

What am I going to want to remember about my daughter and my small family 20 years from now?  What are the photos I will pull off the shelf and search for in an album when I want to remember how small she was, the face she makes when she’s blowing raspberries, that toothless grin, or the way I love how she points at everything.

Here’s a little glimpse of my personal project I’ve been working on in order sharpen my photography skills during this time that I am focusing most of my time and energy into one little being.  I’ve taken one (or 2 or 30) photo(s) almost every day since her birth.

and, in case you didn’t see it (because I forgot to mention it on here…  oops), my Daily Life with Jolie photos were featured on a wonderful blog Let The Kids Dress Themselves a while back.  Here’s a screen shot! :)  Check it out if you haven’t already!

Contest

Monday, February 28th, 2011

UPDATE: Voting has ENDED.  I approved the last of the votes from yesterday and any further votes will be unapproved at this point. Thanks to all who have participated!  Winners will be announced by Friday, March 11th unless I am having a baby by then. :)

Hello!  I’m excited to announce today a contest on this blog!  This is my first ever contest and I’m really excited to see who will win.

During this slow season, I’ve been a little preoccupied with planning for the baby but I’m ready to get something going on this blog and to give away an awesome prize to one of my 2010 clients!  This year I will be offering canvas prints through a local company AW Artworks and in order to get things started in that direction I wanted to give away one 16×20 canvas print.

Please read through the directions below so your two votes will count!

Here’s how it will work:  I am going to post my favorite photos of 2010 below.  The rules are to leave only one comment listing your two favorite photos (each photo is numbered to make it easy for you).  You are obviously more than welcome to vote for your own photo (or your friend/family who sent you here) but then I’d like you to vote for a photo with a different subject/event for the second.  PLEASE NOTE:  Anonymous votes will be discarded.  Also (to make voting fair since some people have only one photo and some have two) you MUST vote twice and choose two different subjects (if you vote twice for the same person, even if they are in two different pictures, then I will discard both votes). I’ve indicated which photos are from the same couple, wedding, family that you can only vote once for, just so there isn’t any confusion. The voting will last one week and end at 11:59pm on Monday, March 7th, 2011.  The photo with the most votes will win and the person/couple the photo belongs to will receive a 16×20 canvas print of their choice!

Grab a scratch piece of paper and pen to mark down your two favorites so you don’t forget by the time you get to the comment box!! There are 34 photos total.

Who knew it would be so hard to narrow down my favorites! In no particular order here are my 2010 favorites!!

Please Note:  The corresponding number for each photo is the number above the photo.

Earlier in the summer I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful mom and her daughter.  I’ve done family photos for her and her husband before but this was a bit different.  They are preparing to move to a different state for a little while so we decided to do a shoot at one of K’s favorite locations, The Sun Prairie Library!  It’s easy to see that she loves this place and loves books!  Here are some photos:

Then, of course, we had to head outside to take advantage of the wonderful weather!

N & K – I very much enjoyed spending some time with the pair of you!  You have a beautiful relationship and family.  I hope there isn’t too much time in between now and next time!

A and E Childhood Photography

Friday, October 1st, 2010

There’s no doubt in my mind that I love photographing weddings and engaged couples the most out of everything but child photography….  I love and hate it all at the same time.  I’m slowly attempting to make changes so that I no longer hate it and so far so good.  I am very pleased by my most recent work in this area and A & E’s photos are among those that I’m truly proud of.  The reason I love these so much is because they are unrushed and just me joining in part of the day – a normal activity with room to breath and interact with the children sometimes with or without the camera.  I love children and if I weren’t pursuing photography I would be pursuing something with children.  Luckily I am due with my first child at the start of Spring so I will be blessed to enjoy both, Wedding Photography and children, at the same time.  Here are some photos of the day.  Enjoy.

Thank you A & E’s parents for raising your children so well.  They are delightful!

Lenasbunt Family :: Madison, WI (Part two)

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

I was lucky enough to shoot the Lenasbunt family twice before their move back home.  With the transition of moving, packing, and everything else going on we decided to do two different sessions.  Neither lasted very long but I’m more than confident that they were able to walk away from their time here in Madison with some great family photos.  Here are just a few from our second session.  The little one was a bit tired and ready for nap time so we didn’t drag it out too long.

Eric and Harmony – I absolutely adore your family and I hope to keep in contact and see you again before too long!

Lenasbunt Family :: Madison, WI (Part one)

Monday, May 10th, 2010

I’m a bit behind on my blogging so I’ll attempt to start to catch up before wedding photography is in full swing!  I was super excited to photograph the Lenasbunt family not too long ago.  I have loved getting to know them and only wish I would have been able to spend more time with them before they moved back home.  I’m sure our paths will line up again at some point with either Jordan and I making a trip to where they are or them coming to visit in Colorado! Here are some of my favorites. (Part two coming soon!)

And this one below is my absolute favorite of all of them together!

And these my favorite of the boy! I can’t really decide which one I like better.
